Hello! I’m Josie, the modern calligrapher and signwriter behind Copper and Coco. I live in Nottingham with my husband and our two little bambinos.
When I first came across modern calligraphy in 2017, I instantly thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world – but I also saw the fun and creativity behind it. Modern calligraphy is about breaking rules and finding your own style, which is something that really resonates with me! I set about learning how to write these pretty letters myself, and was then able to create all of our wedding stationery and signage by the time we tied the knot in 2019. Having that handmade touch made things all the more special, because it meant that our personality was able to shine through in all the little details of the day.
This has become one of my most important values when it comes to lettering for others – I always want to make sure I’m representing your unique personality through my work. Calligraphy is typically associated with elegance and beauty – but beauty comes in all sorts of forms! My mission is to let more people know that modern calligraphy is FOR EVERYONE, no matter how weird and wonderful you are!
I love all styles of lettering and believe I have the skills to adapt to whatever your project requires, whether that be flourished and extravagent calligraphy, quirky modern styles or simply polished block capitals.

I don’t blame you, I’m exactly the same. So here are some “fun” facts about me:
• I’m a fantasy nerd – Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones are my kinda thing!
• I’m a proud Hufflepuff! Despite having lots of Ravenclaw traits I prioritise being a good person above and beyond everything else in life. I also just love seeing the value in everyone and appreciating people for who they truly are.
• Music is really important to me and honestly I’m still trapped in my punk-rock/emo phase (not that I’m fighting to get out of it). All Time Low will forever be my favourites <3
• I really like getting to know myself better – I’m a heart on my sleeve type person and a lot of my decisions are fuelled by emotions!
• I have an actual addiction to crisps and will think nothing of eating 4 bags in one go. Keep your sweet tooth, I’m savoury all the way!
